Turkish American guitarist Cem Duruöz will return to Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in a recital featuring guitar music from Turkey. The program will include guitarist’s own arrangements of Turkish folkloric songs and dance music such as Batum, Yüksek Yüksek Tepelere, and Haydar, as well as his selections from Turkish Classical music, which initially was composed and played in the Ottoman Courts. Sultaniyegâh Sirto, and Nihavend Longa are the prime examples representing the genre.
The rest of the program will feature new music from Turkey written in various styles, giving the audience the opportunity to see a snapshot of the guitar scene in the country. Click here for more...
